John Courtis is currently the Executive Director of the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce. After a 14 year career at the Yuma Sun as Advertising Manager, John assumed his current post in September of 2014. John began his marketing / advertising career at the Long Beach Press Telegram in 1973 and 43 years later, he’s still helping independent business be successful!

John has been a publisher of a weekly paper, and has owned an advertising agency, a weekly paper and a consulting firm. He has worked for big papers like the Los Angeles Times and the Kansas City Star and small papers like the Prescott Sun Shopper. He is a trainer and motivational speaker and loves helping small businesses be successful. John is involved in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Yuma, the Yuma Council for CASA, Yuma Youth Leadership, the Yuma County Fair, and the Yuma Area Agricultural Council.

John has been married to Deb for 15 years, has 5 kids and 8 grandchildren.
